Bats are one of the most important and misunderstood animals in our ecosystem, and tend to instill fear rather than awe. These flying mammals are a fantastic indicator of environmental health, and are quite advantageous to house. Bats feed on mosquitoes and other insects, consuming up to 1,200 mosquitoes in an hour. They are a fantastic way to naturally control insect pests, without the need for chemicals or other pollutants. As they are faced with habitat destruction, bats have been forced to search for roosts elsewhere. Placing a bat house in your yard or on your home is a great way to help these animals, as well as reduce insects around your area.
