In the wake of the recent acts of unimaginable terror, this newsletter has been dedicated to a symbol of America’s freedom. Although the recent terrorist attacks have put fear into many of our hearts and shaken our sense of security, we all have been awakened to one of the virtues for which our forefathers fought – Freedom. This spirit of freedom is symbolized in our National Bird, the Bald Eagle. Now 50,000 strong in the US, one can witness the limitless flight of the eagle from the highest mountain peaks to the lowest depths of the canyon. Boundlessly soaring on the breath of liberty above our land and standing guard for our country at the highest roosts, the eagle is an inspirational emblem for our country’s spirit of freedom. It is said that the Bald Eagle was chosen as our national bird because of its sense of freedom, its strength and its authority. In fact, some brave soldiers once recounted as eagles soared above one of the first battles of the revolutionary war that they were “shrieking for freedom". As our country labors to regain a sense of security and battles for justice and peace in the world, be inspired by the Bald Eagle and its freedom to reach the highest heights. And pray that our country will again feel that same spirit of freedom that we once took for granted.
