Finches and tree swallows add an exciting bit of color to any yard, and their flying antics endear them to many birders. House finches are regularly seen at bird feeders, while tree swallows can be found in huge flocks roosting near marshlands. Both will gladly use a manmade nest box, keeping population levels rising as wetlands and natural forests diminish. These birds prefer a wall, pole, or post mounted home, 5' to 15' high. A 1.5" diameter entrance hole is perfect for their size, and a predator guard can be added if desired. A perch is not necessary but does not diminish the occupancy rate of the home.
