To calculate required liner size, determine the rectangular size of your pond. If your pond is irregular, determine the size rectangle in which your pond will fit. The liner size your pond will require can be calculated as follows: the planned width plus twice the depth and 2 feet for the edges and the length plus twice the depth and, again, 2 feet for the edges. For example, if you wish to build a 10' x 15' pond that is 4' in depth, you would need a 20' x 25' liner (10 + 4 + 4 + 2 = 20' wide; 15 + 4 + 4 + 2 = 25' long).
