The dual levels each have four apartments, for a total of eight different units on the roost. Each apartment measures 8.25� long, 8.5� wide, and 6� high, creating a comfortable nesting spot. The white sides of this home help it stay cool during the summer, while the tan roof blends with the outdoors. The crescent shaped entries deter starlings from using the shelter, and the black floors have texture throughout them for nestlings to maintain their grip. An integrated nest cup on the base of each compartment helps martins place their eggs safely and centrally, and each door swings upward for nest checks. Porches beneath each entrance form takeoff and landing spots for the birds, and the extended floors on each unit create even more vantage points. Rain canopies above the entries protect the units from the elements, as do the overhang and gutters on the tan colored, pitched roof. The UV stabilized, copolymer plastic construction ensures a lasting home, and the unit snaps together for assembly without requiring any tools. A triangular opening through the center of the structure accommodates the S&K Telescoping Aluminum Pole and Ground Socket (not included), so you can mount this unit at its necessary height and lower it for seasonal maintenance.
