Each unit's 8" deep nesting chamber provides generous room for martins or bluebirds to roost, and the variable, dual entry design allows you to offer a round or crescent passage for these feathered friends. Additional door plugs can be placed over top of these entries; use these optional plugs to convert the round entrance to a 1.5" diameter, bluebird friendly access hole or change the oval opening's dimensions and cater to tree swallows. Easily snapping into place just below each entrance is a 3" porch, lending considerable perching area for martins as they approach, while a non-slip, textured interior cavity lets birds secure a helpful grip within the chamber. Each gourd's intuitive neck rotates with ease, allowing you to position the shelters in whatever direction you wish without changing the configuration of your gourd rack or hanger (not included). An included cap provides coverage for the 5" x 4" oval access and can be easily removed to let you monitor gourd activity and perform regular maintenance checks.
