Made of durable aluminum, the Castle is lightweight, helping dissipate any heat buildups in the compartments. This helps maintain a comfortable temperature for the martins. In addition, the lightweight house is simple to raise and lower on the included winch and cable system. Simply ensure that the wire completely threads around the winch and securely locks when necessary. Use the winch to raise or lower the house a few inches or all the way to the ground, as the locking system can move the house as little as an inch at a time. This system is safe for people of all ages interested in becoming or remaining a martin landlord, and easily moves the house for nest checks and cleanouts. The entrance holes on the hexagonal dwelling are spaced approximately 8" apart to discourage male martin domination, and the 14" wide porches with guard rails create the offset housing compartments that martins prefer. Each of the twenty four compartments have individual, flip-up/snap-out doors for easy access, and Dri-nest subfloors keep nests 0.25" above the floor for additional drainage. This extra floor also allows you to easily treat parasites under the nests if necessary. A roof perch allows more room for your martins to perch and preen, and an included ground socket provides stability to the pole. Twenty four winter door stops help you close the home for the winter.
