The reservoir holds 0.5 quarts of mixed, safflower, or sunflower seed, and clear plastic panels on two sides keep seed levels visible. A faux window shape on each wooden side features a gap beneath it, creating a port, and a perch underneath each offers a resting spot for birds. Gaps at the base of the plastic panels enable seed to exit onto the feeding tray, for more birds to reach it. A small hole on each corner of the tray allows water to drain, keeping seed dry, and the pitched roof protects seed from rain and snow. Two wooden pegs secure the roof to the item, and a nylon cord enables the unit to be hung.
