The shape and design of this bold home evokes a seaside cottage in the northeast, with a wraparound balcony on the top floor and a bevy of faux windows. Two entrance holes grace the home, offering a fun roost for two bird families at once. The 1.25" diameter entrance holes allow wrens, chickadees, and woodpeckers passage, while excluding larger ones. White trim around each of the mock windows and doors adds a lively look, and highlights the soft teal color of the home. A black, pine shingled roof completes the look. Placing the entry holes near the top of the home creates a deep space for birds to roost, helping protect nestlings from predators. This placement also allows ventilation of the home, keeping air moving through the item. Screening under each entrance hole acts as a ladder, helping fledglings reach the exit hole when ready to learn to fly. A drainage hole on each side of the base helps any excess water drain, keeping the nest dry, and the wooden construction brings sturdiness to the unit. A back panel unscrews, enabling you to open the home for seasonal cleanings or nest checks.
