The central, core shape forms the seed reservoir, which can hold 0.25 quarts of mixed, sunflower, or safflower seed. Four ports on the base enable seed to exit onto the attached tray, while perches at the bottom align with each feeding port for birds to enjoy the treat. Additionally, three holes on the bottom of the feeder allow any captured water to drain, for dry seed. Lift a section of the cap upward using the green metal stem and leaf shape at the top of the item to refill the piece. An attached fabric cord enables the apple to hang easily, and the squeeze tab keeps the unit securely closed when hanging.
