Because the entrance hole is small and the house is deep, it is difficult for predators to reach down to the nest. No toxic paints or stains have been used, thus birds go unharmed season after season as the house acquires a weathered finish. The rough pine interior allows fledglings to climb out easily when it's time to learn to fly. For seasonal cleaning, turn the side latch and open the panel.
