This fantastic, handheld tool measures the alkalinity or acidity of your soil, so you know which plants will thrive there, or how to properly treat it. The pointed base of the stake inserts into your soil, and the three metal rings here read the pH properties of your soil. After ten minutes in the ground, check the dial at the top of the meter, to obtain your soil’s current pH. The unit can measure pH from 3 (very acidic) to 8 (slightly alkaline), and its gauge has four demarcations between each setting for thorough readings. A list of common plants and crops and their preferred pH levels occupies the side of the unit, helping you determine which seeds would be best to cultivate in your area. After you have tested your soil, press the button the side of the item to measure its moisture content. The dial will point to a numeric value on the bottom scale from 1 to 8, with 8 meaning saturated and 1 meaning quite dry. The resistance between the metals powers this meter, and its plastic casing creates a lasting item.
